by andy.dtnl
You can now pre-order the new album from Just Music prior to it's release date of September 8th!
You'll also find a track on the front cover disc of this month's Clash Magagzine.
Here's a selection of press quotes about the new record:
DMC Update *****
Essential Album
“If you’re only gonna treat yourself to one chilled instrumental album this year, make sure it’s this one”
The Guardian
“ ..Save Your Light for Darker Days is an album that seems eminently suited to accompanying a book, a dinner or a hangover. It is beautiful…”
Uncut Magazine ***
“Andy Dobson has been releasing ambient electronica as Digitonal for nearly a decade, but it was only when he hooked up with Egyptian violinist Sammy Bishai that his music really found its own wings…this album features 10 lengthy tracks that ….mutate into cinematic anthems featuring multi-tracked strings and majestic melodies courtesy of guest musicians Ket Arney and Jo Quail ”
Music OMH 4/5 ****
“A heavenly overture… sweeping bows and tumultuous build ups… If the bass doesn't get you then the throb of the cello will”
Plan B
“There is depth and lovliness here… an opportunity to breathe, a moment of calm amid the tumult”
Rock Sound
"a slowburning atmosheric beast… shimmering with a yearning romanticism… heartbreakingly lovely"
The Line Of Best Fit 70%
“Digitonal find that delicate balance between crystalline beats and epic orchestrations… Perfect early morning music”
Room Thirteen 8/13
“Almost too good… a strange and mysterious sound…”
VainZine - 5/5 ****
“Simply mindblowing… It's a heady fusion of ambient electronica. It's bold, fresh, mellow, emotive and the perfect soundtrack to those lazy summer days in the garden soaking up the rays”
New-Noise.Net
“A beautiful array of ambience, classical ideals, symphonic arrangements and a reworking of the electronica style that will bring new life into a scene crammed full of pretenders… this is aural pleasure par excellence. At times lush and sublime, and at others intense and enveloping”
The Skinny 4/5
“At times the arrangements echo Nick Drake’s pastoral soundscapes, and there’s the same emotional timbre to the likes of 93 Years On that made Bryter Layter such a masterpiece… Digitonal express a driving surety that lifts the listener to the skies, to float above the crass mediocrity of so much electronica…This is one of the strongest albums of the summer, and a truly powerful piece of work”
Gigwise.com
“By bridging classical composition in an experimental and cutting edge way, we’re gifted to listen to some of the most beautiful compositions that will last in memory for a long time”
Fluidnation
“Beautiful string based music fused with stunning electronica”
Teletext
“Luxurious classical music and minimalist electro beats. Like a slow-motion fireworks display”

Summer festivals 2008
by andy.dtnl

The "classic" lineup of Samy, Andy and Callum will be guests of the Inspiral Stage at this year's Glade Festival. The UK's best dance and electronic music festival runs from the 18th - 20th of July in lush parkland in Berkshire. We will be doing an album-orientated set of beautiful cinematic electronica alongside a fantastic lineup which includes our old Toytronic labelmates Infinite Scale and many more.
Tickets are running out fast. We strongly recommend getting on it.

Secondly, we will be playing at a small and perfectly formed boutique festival in Suffolk in aid of the ABC trust. Also featuring The Bays, Hexstatic and the fabulous Echaskech, this is going to be a perfect weekend in lovely surroundings.
These are our only UK festival appearances this summer.
