93 years On

by andy.dtnl Email

In 2005 I did a gig at 93 Feet East. It was weird, a load of people from my past were there. An ex-girlfriend that had cheated on me and broken my heart, people I used to be friends with that blanked me. I freaked out and drove back to Sheffield at 2am. At home, wired on redbull and maize-based snacks, I couldn't sleep and sat down at the computer and wrote a tune. The next afternoon, I got heroically drunk and remembered that I had a clarinet knocking about that I used to be able to play. Drinking whiskey and a bit stoned to boot, I put down a clarinet solo. To this day, I still don't know how to produce the notes I got at the end.

After many different mixes and performances, this is the definitive version. Released today as a digital single, it's backed with an Echaskech remix of Nothing Left to Say and a 65daysofstatic remix of Ana Kata, both originally from the album Save Your Light for Darker Days (Just Music TAO24, available now).

Echoes - CD of the Month

by andy.dtnl Email

We are chuffed to bits to be selected as the Echoes CD of the month in September.

echoes

For those unfamiliar with it, Echoes is a US based radio show which covers the fringes of contemporary music, with a particular interest in ambient electronica.

They have recently published an audio review, with samples, of the new album which you can listen to or download on their blog.

Look out for a full length interview with the band later in the month as well.

Posthuman - Hilda Family remixed

by andy.dtnl Email

hilda family remixed

Released today on the fabulous netlabel Myuzyk is the Posthuman Hilda Family remixed album.

Aside from being an active member of the Digitonal band, Josh from Posthuman has been one of our most frequent collaborators and even influences, with the classic Uncertainty of the Monkey album being a firm favourite here.

This release contains a Digitonal remix of Asha Grew Wings - our take being a dark, acid-tinged reworking of one of our favourite Postie tracks of late.

It's available on a limited edition CD direct from Myuzyk and also includes remixes by LJ Kruzer, Benge, The Village Orchestra and Shelley Parker.

There is also a free EP available to download from the site containing the originals.
